Call For Papers: ISSEME New Voices sessions at Kalamazoo ICMS 2026 and Leeds IMC 2026
ISSEME invites abstract submissions for our 2026 “New Voices on Early Medieval England” sessions at the International Congress on Medieval Studies (ICMS) at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo in the USA (14-16 May) or at the International Medieval Congress (IMC) at the University of Leeds in the UK (6-9 July). We welcome submissions by emerging scholars, including advanced graduate students and early career researchers, on any topic or field of study related to the language, literature, history, or cultural and artistic productions of early medieval England.
Leeds IMC 2026 – Instructions for Submitting a Proposal
Potential participants for the “New Voices” session(s) at the IMC at Leeds, UK should submit their proposals directly to the session organizer, Shannon Godlove, by email at sngodlove@gmail.com. Paper proposals for IMC should include:
- Title and abstract of 100-300 words describing the topic and contribution of your presentation.
- Contact information, including name, email, postal address, telephone number, and academic affiliation
- Mode of presentation – in-person or virtual online presentation.
- Any additional accommodations or tech needs in addition to a computer and projector.
Proposals for the IMC at Leeds are due 22 August to enable notice about acceptance to the session to be given prior to IMC deadline for individual paper submissions. More information at https://www.imc.leeds.ac.uk/imc-2026/

Kalamazoo ICMS 2026 – Instructions for Submitting a Proposal
Potential participants for the “New Voices” session(s) at the ICMS at Kalamazoo must submit their proposals directly to the proposal portal on Confex, the ICMS website using this link: Submit Proposal – New Voices Kzoo 2026
You will be asked to supply a title and an abstract for your presentation of up to 300 words, a brief description of your presentation to be shared on the Confex website if selected, as well as contact information and any accommodation needs. This will be a hybrid in-person/online session. Please indicate in your submission whether you wish to present virtually online or in person.
